The department was set up in 1959 with the General UG course. In 2001 the department started Honours course in Philosophy. The department aims to building a strong foundation of Philosophy. The most important thing of this department is the consistency of students’ progress in their result and other academic activities. The department frequently organizes National seminar, State level seminar, workshop, extension lecture, poster presentation, wall magazine & drawing competition for the development of students’ quality in the first hand and building research oriented mind-set among the student. The department also has highly qualified teacher strength. Year of establishment of the department is 1959 as a general subject and Honours in 2001. Infrastructure of the department is One departmental staff room and one class room, one well equipped seminar library and also shares all other central infrastructure of the college like central library. Intake Capacity is 47 (27 UR, 10 SC, 4 ST, 4 OBC- A, 2 OBC- B, 3% of each category PC).
